Morphology of Varun

Its tree is approximately 10 meters tall, which is devoid of thorns. The bark of its trunk is brown in colour and is hard, smooth, thick, yellowish-white in colour. Its leaves are like vine leaves, which are pointed at the front. Its fragrant flowers are yellowish-white in colour and are borne in bunch-like clusters. Its fruits are oval-shaped, spherical in shape. Its fruits are pulpy too, and can be smooth or rough. It is green in its raw state and appears slightly red after ripening. The fruit is a little hard from outside. It has a large number of seeds, which are buried in the yellow pulp, and appear slightly brown in colour. Its flowers and fruits come between January and May.

Benefits and usages of Varun )

Consumption of Varuna is beneficial in stones (Varun for calculus)

  • In case of Ashmari or stone, if the decoction made from the root of Varun is mixed with the paste made from its bark and consumed, then the stone breaks and comes out. You can take it in a quantity of about 30 ml.
  • One should drink a decoction made from medicinal bark, harad, amla, baheda, dry ginger and gokharu in equal quantities with yavakshar and jaggery. This can help in removing stones.
  • Apart from this, you can take a decoction made from Varun bark with jaggery. This can also help in removing stones.

Beneficial in urinary diseases (Varun for urinary disease)

  • If you experience burning sensation, difficulty or pain while passing urine, then ghee prepared with this medicine should be consumed. If the urinary tract disease is chronic, then jaggery should also be consumed along with it.

Varun for loss of appetite

  • If you are not feeling hungry then it could be a liver related disorder. For this you can consume Varun powder mixed with honey. This medicine works very well for the liver and hence it will also help in increasing your appetite.

To relieve joint related problems (Varun for joints problem)

  • In case of rheumatism, the juice of fresh leaves of this medicine should be mixed with coconut milk and butter and consumed. This provides quick relief from rheumatism.
  • Apart from this, if you have joint pain, then you should grind its leaves and apply on the joints. This can provide relief in joint pain.

Varun in postpartum pain (Varun for post pregnancy)

  • If a woman is experiencing severe pain after delivery, the bark juice of this medicine should be used. It provides relief from pain.

Put an end to skin diseases (Varun for skin disease)

  • In the case of ringworm, one should consume decoction made from Varsha Bhu root and Varun root in equal quantities.
  • If this medicine is ground and applied in case of erysipelas, it provides relief in the problem of erysipelas.
  • If you have black spots on your face or skin and they are not going away, then you should rub the bark of this medicine in goat's milk and apply it. This will fade the black spots and also remove the freckles from the face and improve the complexion.

  • If honey is mixed in the decoction made from Varun's root and consumed, it provides relief in goiter. Apart from this, you can also apply a paste made from its bark.

Varun for piles

  • If the piles are washed with the decoction of leaves of radish, harad, amla, behada, aak, vansh, varun, arani, drumstick etc., it helps in relieving the pain.

in tumour disease

  • By consuming Varunadi Kwath, one can get relief from tumour as well as headache.

Varun for burning sensation in feet

  • If the leaves of this medicine are ground and applied on the soles of the feet, it helps in soothing the burning sensation in the feet and also reduces swelling.

Beneficial in constipation (Varun for constipation)

  • Varun has mild laxative properties due to which it can solve minor constipation. For this, you can consume 25 to 30 ml of its decoction.
