Introduction of Agaru

What is Agaru?

Perhaps you do not know about this herb named Agaru and neither its qualities. But after knowing about it today, you will definitely become well acquainted with it. Agarbattis are made from the gum extracted from this tree, whose fragrance is easily recognized by everyone.
But you will be surprised to know that it is used as a medicine in Ayurveda. It is used as an Ayurvedic treatment in India since ancient times. This tree is also called Agar tree. Assam is famous for this tree since ancient times.
It is found in the mountains of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura and West Bengal.

External form (Morphology) (Agaru ki akriti)

This tree is full of medicinal properties. It is an evergreen tree whose height can be up to 20 meters. Its bark is as thin as paper and is white and yellow in color. Its flowers are umbrella shaped and white and yellow in color.
When it becomes more than 21 years old, its bark starts ripening. While ripening, a gum-like substance appears on its bark, from which incense sticks are made. When the wood ripens, a type of insect starts growing in it and it starts rotting. This is known as real Agaru and it is also considered to be the real Agaru.

Agaru is beneficial for headache (Agaru for head ache)

• Rub the agarwood like sandalwood. Now add camphor in appropriate quantity to it. Now apply this paste on the forehead. In a few days, you will get relief from the headache very easily.

In asthma (Agaru for asthma)

• For a patient suffering from asthma, mix ground camphor with ground agaru powder. Now apply this paste on the chest. Applying this paste reduces swelling and gives relief to the patient.
• Apart from this, the asthma patient can get relief by adding one or two drops of agarwood oil in tobacco leaves.

• If a person is suffering from stomach lump then taking decoction of Agarwood daily provides relief in this problem.

To prevent nausea or vomiting

• Due to vomiting, there is a shortage of water in the body of people, due to which other diseases start arising. In such a situation, to stop vomiting, one should make powder of Agaru wood and eat it.

Eliminate the problem of constipation (Agaru for constipation)

• In case of constipation due to low digestive fire, one should make powder of Agaru wood and take it with honey. By consuming this, low digestive fire is increased and the problem of constipation ends.

• To cure bleeding piles, mix appropriate amount of sugar candy and ghee in agarwood powder. After this, cook them. Now consume it after it cools down. Patients of bleeding piles get great benefits by consuming it.

• Drinking water impregnated with Agaru wood provides relief from excessive thirst during fever and also maintains good health.
