What is Ashok? (What is Ashok?)

There is a tree named Ashok. Which is generally known to all people. After Sita's abduction, mother Sita used to sit under this tree. That is why it is also called Sita Ashok. It is believed that Lord Buddha was also born under this tree. There are many such incidents related to this tree.

External form (morphology) of Ashoka (Sita Ashoka) (Ashok ki akriti)

It is an evergreen tree whose height can be up to 9 meters. Mostly the bark of this tree is used to cure diseases. Its leaves are long and pointed. Its flowers are red and vermillion in color and are very fragrant. Its flowers come in bunches.
Its pods are flat. White juice comes out from its stem which dries and turns red when it comes in contact with air and we call it the gum of this tree. Its flowers come between March to April and fruits between August to October.

The height of this tree can be 15 to 20 meters. It is not very dense like the real Ashoka. The color of its leaves is bright green. Its flowers come from February to May and fruits come between July to December. Flowers appear on it after it grows big enough. Its fruits become purple after ripening.
