What is Palash? (Palash kya hai?)
Palash is found all over India. It is being used as a divine medicine from very ancient times. It is found mostly in the plains of India. Its leaves were used to make plates in ancient times. It is a tree whose flowers are used to make colors on Holi. Its flowers are called saffron flowers.
It is used to make natural colours for playing Holi. Due to its beauty, many people use it to enhance the beauty of the courtyard of the house. Also, it has some properties which can be helpful in getting some health benefits.
Do you know that it is used as a herb in Ayurveda? It is such a herb that has the cure for problems from head to toe. If you use it, you get relief from blood disorders, stomach worms, goiter, piles etc.
External appearance (Morphology) (Palash ki akriti)
Its tree is a crooked medium sized leafy tree. The bark of this tree is soft and brown in colour. Old bark is thick and crooked. Its middle leaf is big and both the leaves on the edge are small. These are green in colour and rough. Dona (plate) or leaf plate is made from its leaves. Its flowers are of bright and beautiful orange colour. Flowers bloom after the leaves of this tree are removed. Its pods are big and flat of brown colour. Each pod has red coloured seeds and is flat. Its flowering period is from February to May and fruiting period is from May to June.
